The lack of items really does help add to the tension. These are much scarcer than you would think so you really need to make sure that each shot counts and also that it is worth taking the shot in the first place. As a result, you really have to be careful with things like ammo and your healing items.

This is a much slower paced and a more survival kind of game than the action-packed game the series had become. Thankfully this is one thing that Capcom decided to leave in the past. Resident Evil 2 uses much more modern and fluid controls and I do not see anyone having any kind of issue with the controls.Īnother thing that the older games made use of was ink ribbons to save. Those earlier games had tank controls that you either got the hang of, or they turned you off completely. There were two things that had some players worried about the Resident Evil 2 remake. It makes the whole drama that is happening seem so much more real and freighting when you have good actors delivering the lines. The earlier Resident Evil games had cheesy voice acting, but once again everything is done from scratch here.

Even if you do know already what is going on. The presentation is so good that it really does get you heavily invested in the story.

The motion capture and especially the facial animations bring these characters to life like you would not believe. Racoon City looks amazing, the zombies, the Lickers and The Tyrant himself all look amazing. While the game is not in the first person like VII was, it looks even better if you ask me. That is not what Resident Evil 2 does! Capcom built this game from the ground up and they have used that same engine they had for Resident Evil VII. Some remakes get really lazy and just put the resolution up and smooth out jaggy textures. Why Wow? Well because this is one of the most gorgeous looking games of the year. I do think that even after all these years I still think that Leon has a better campaign, but this is really a personal preference kind of thing.

This helps give the game some replay value as I feel that both are worth playing through, plus you can unlock some cool stuff by beating everything the game has. You play through the same game, but the perspectives are different and what you do and who you come across do differ. Once again you can play as Leon or Claire. A couple of things have been changed, but for the most part, it is telling the same story. If you have already played one of the ten million releases of Resident Evil 2, you pretty much know what the story is.
